“Thulêan Mysteries was made passively, in the sense that I never intended to make a new album; I just made music every now and then and at one point realized that I actually had enough to release it all on an album. When asked to do so I figured: why not? It was a good idea. The music is a little bit of this and a little bit of that, transcending any genre, and perhaps belonging to many different genres. The intention with it was always to create a certain atmosphere, often related to an idea or a situation. Since my true passion has never been music, but actually tabletop role-playing games, I figured I should make this an album intended for that use; as background music for my own MYFAROG (Mythic Fantasy Role-playing Game). Hopefully you will get a sense of Thulê when you listen to this, like always with Burzum, ideally when on your own. The vocals are very important for the special atmosphere and are more important than on any other Burzum album, and more varied too and as honest as it gets”.

“Sol austan, Mani vestan” is the 11th album from Burzum and a return to a purely electronic and instrumental expression. “Sol austan, Mani vestan” is different from all the older albums, and yet similar to all of them, and is in style more than anything similar to the oldest ambient music of Burzum, like the tracks “Tomhet”, “Han som reiste” and “Channelling the power of Minds into a new God”. “Sol austan, Mani vestan” is inspired by and made for the “ForeBears” movie by Marie Cachet and Varg Vikernes, where much of the Scaldic music from “Sol austan, Mani vestan” appears, only in unmastered form, as a soundtrack. Burzum says of the new album: “Sol austan, Mani vestan” will feature almost an hour of instrumental electronic music, that can best be described as relaxing, slow-paced, contemplative and very much original. And of the concept Burzum says; I have still not been able to leave behind the Pagan religious-spiritual concept of a descent into darkness and the following ascend back into the light; the Pagan initiation, the elevation of man to the divine, the enlightenment of the mind, the feeding of the elven light in man.

Fallen is the 9th studio album from Burzum, and follows the highly critically acclaimed 2010 release Belus which put Burzum straight back at the top of the chain as one of the most innovative and creative metal artists of our time. Fallen follows Belus in sound and structure, and can also be compared to the music on the groundbreaking DET SOM ENGANG VAR. Fallen is more dynamic and hard hitting then Belus and has an even bigger sound, but still carries the same trademark melody lines throughout that make Burzum sound so iconic and unique. Burzum says of the new album and his style of music: “Musically FALLEN is like a cross between BELUS and something new, inspired more by the debut album DET SOM ENGANG VAR than by HVIS LYSET TAR OSS or FILOSOFEM. The sound is more dynamic we mastered the album as if it was classical music and I was more experimental than I was on BELUS in all respects. Lyric-wise it is similar to the debut album, in the way that it is more personal and focuses on existential issues, but the mythological undertone known from BELUS is still there. I have also included some ambient tracks – a short introduction and a longer conclusion.”

Worm Infested, the long out of print second EP by Cannibal Corpse released in 2003 through Metal Blade Records is now available on CD, cassette and 12″ vinyl formats. Worm Infested is a compilation EP of tracks recorded between 1996 and 2001, featuring previously unreleased outtakes along with killer covers of songs by Accept, Possessed and Metallica. This is worth a place in any good Death Metal collection!
