Continuing the tradition of collecting the band’s countless vinyl-only releases (as well as short CD-only releases) to tide over their rabid, diehard fanbase, this latest edition of Devils Congeries collects the Fuck the God in Heaven mini-CD from 2006 and a whole treasure trove of 7” EPs: Black, Padova Italy, European Excommunication, Nordic Nightmare, Slutty Cryptic Mother, Live Mexicali Mexico, Blasphemer, and a split with Soulless. Set to be released on a triple-CD with bonus DVD or (with truncated tracklisting) on double-LP vinyl, Vol. 5 is the next edition in a series of eight exhaustive collections that will compile every single short-length NUNSLAUGHTER release – a band whose discography is bested number-wise only by Japan’s Sabbat and Belgium’s Agathocles. NUNSLAUGHTER’s best work is considered by many to be their EPs, and Devils Congeries – Vol. 5 displays the band’s trademark Devil Metal in all its diabolical ‘n’ dirty glory, both in the studio and especially live, this time mostly casting its crusty gaze back to the early 2000s, right when Don of the Dead and crew were truly beginning to pick up steam. Visual evidence of such can be found on the bonus DVD, which includes two full shows from 2008. As usual, topped off by an elaborate booklet archiving each EP’s cover artwork and pressing information, Devils Congeries – Vol. 5 is mandatory metal worship!
