Australia’s WOODS OF DESOLATION have quietly become one of the world’s preeminent atmospheric black metal exponents. Started as a solo project in 2005 by multi-instrumentalist D., it has been honed over almost two decades and dozens of recordings into a vessel of sublime beauty and sadness.
Woods of Desolation were already a cult sensation, but ‘Torn Beyond Reason’ was an instant fan favorite and quickly became early touchstone of blackgaze upon its 2011 release.
