An active servant of the neo-folk tradition, Sun Vessel has been marching for several years now, in a setting that combines the beauty and tragedy of a glittering age. Although still faithfully rooted in the folk heritage, the project has now released a new album that breaks free from certain codes inherent in the styles. On “A seed fallen to earth”, Sun Vessel takes a fresh approach to songwriting. More than just a contemplative ballad, the album is punctuated by tracks that often evoke the ethereal specter of the 70s. A panel of authentic auroral songs floating in the air, reminding us of the serene color of wheat and the quietude of great, peaceful memories. The voices and melodies are particularly expressive, and despite the distinct singularity of each track, a real harmony emerges from the whole. In the same way as the balance in the subtlety of the arrangements, the breadth of each composition echoes the varied emotions aroused in the listener. The graceful elegance of the choruses sometimes gives way to more dazzling flights of fancy, in a dream-like ardor of nostalgia mingled with ecstasy. Segments alternate between intensity saturated with clarity and more diffuse, radiant sobriety. “A seed fallen to earth”, while respecting a certain integrity, is freer in its approach. Freed from all temporality, the scintillating landscapes sketched by this work offer themselves to us, emerging from an elsewhere shimmering with light.”- Ralf Manor
