BUXEN – dilexerunt homines magis tenebras quam lucem – DIGICD

A new entry in our collection, Katabasis, dedicated to Black Metal.

We present the debut album from Italian band Buxen. Consisting mainly of long, gloomy, haunted tracks, it takes a raw, cold approach to Black Metal – effectively referential – but not devoid of the little Black’n’Roll touches that energize the compositions at just the right moment. Hypnotic and repetitive, certain passages carry a ritual dimension that strongly marks the structuring of this album.

The raucous, raspy vocals are classic in their style, but retain their own personal touch, giving a captivating aura to the determined interpretation. Sometimes reinforced by ghostly choirs and vocals. All these compositions exude a charm that has a lot to do with nostalgia – not in the sense of an ape of the style’s past, but of a tribute to it, of an inferno of black flames.

‘…dilexerunt homines magis tenebras quam lucem…’ appears as an act of faith. This message of veneration is far from being the whole point of this album, which is above all an opportunity for these musicians to offer us quality compositions with a finely crafted atmosphere.

Monotonous, occult and bewitching, these tracks dedicated to the cult of the night offer fine moments of devotion to a style that has lulled many a tormented soul.
