Twilight of the Gods is the sixth studio album by Swedish extreme metal band Bathory. It continues the exploration of the newly created Viking metal style, and also displays heavy epic doom and classical influences; it is titled after an opera by Wagner. It is a mid-tempo, more acoustic album than previous Bathory releases, though it follows on from Hammerheart.

Bathory was formed in Stockholm in 1983. Blood Fire Death is the fourth album by the Swedish band and continued their transition towards more epic songwriting, and includes some of the first Viking metal recordings, although is still mostly black metal.

Bathory is regarded as a major influence on the Norwegian bands which extended black metal’s musical progression and popularity in the beginning of the 1990s. The band’s early work was influenced primarily by Black Sabbath, Motad, and punk rock.

The Return…… (full title The Return of the Darkness and Evil) is the second studio album by Swedish extreme metal band Bathory. The Return…… had significant influences on developing the black metal and death metal genres

“De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” was the first full-length studio album by the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem – Now available as a Music Cassette!

Songwriting began in 1987, but due to the suicide of vocalist Per “Dead” Ohlin and the murder of guitarist Øystein “Euronymous” Aarseth, the album’s release was delayed until May 1994. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is widely considered one of the most influential black metal albums of all time.

Deathcrush was an EP by the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem – Now available as a Music Cassette!

Originally released on 16 August 1987. Though influential to black metal, its lyrics and sound were largely influenced by early death metal bands.
“Chainsaw Gutsfuck” was voted “Most Gruesome Lyrics Ever” by Blender in 2006. The Deathcrush EP was immediately ground-breaking, establishing new standards of brutality, the songwriting itself is still largely derivative of their influences, particularly Venom and early Bathory.
