After 20 years in the metal scene, ATROX mark the occasion with their 5th album “Binocular”. The Swiss have a reputation for taking things somewhat slower in order to achieve excellence and clockwork precision. Yet not everything coming out of this Alpine country is chocolate and cheese. In darker times the halberds, pikes and swords of the fierce confederation’s mercenaries were feared on Europe’s many fields of battle. THIS MISERY GARDEN easily capture the dual nature of their home country on their second full-length “Cornerstone”. French quartet EXOCRINE have been prolifically writing their philosophical blend of ultra technical and extraordinarily rapid death metal for quite some years, but they’re far from done blasting fans with their take on the genre.
With new album ‘Legend’, it’s quite safe to say that the artistry has reached a status worthy of the release’s title. WILDLIGHTS are entering the rock scene with a big bang and a timeless self-titled album. Their origin can be traced to Wilmington, North Carolina, which is a particularly burgeoning home of hard and rocking American music. At this event horizon, the heavily creative forces of ASG frontman Jason Shi and drummer Johnny Collins from THUNDERLIP! collided and gave birth to a direct, honest sound that draws equally from driving, melodic, Californian spawned desert rock roots as well as the heavy, blues-based riffing of the South. The duo paid strong attention to details right from the start and therefore chose to collaborate with renowned sound engineer Matt Hyde (SLAYER, MONSTER MAGNET, FU MANCHU, CHILDREN OF BODOM) on the production of ‘Wildlights’, which gave this rock gem a sparkling classic cut. The stunning artwork of this debut album has been created by the brilliant Brian Mercer, whose work for LAMB OF GOD, EYEHATEGOD, and BLACK TUSK to name but a few has given the artist an excellent reputation. WILDLIGHTS deliver a soundtrack to life that resonates with hope. ‘Wildlights’ contains twelve masterfully crafted rock songs and no fillers. OF LEGENDS are the brainchild of self-taught multi-instrumentalist Luis Dubuc, who scored several billboard entries and toured extensively with his highly acclaimed project THE SECRET HANDSHAKE. Taking a sharp turn from those Motown and Soul influences, OF LEGENDS deliver modern Metal mainly influenced by its more extreme sides with references to the Core scene. “Stranded” is obviously written by someone coming from a much groovier place, with a ton of anger and hate on his mind. The band will embark on their first live campaign supporting NORMA JEAN in the US during spring and set to conquer the rest of the world in 2011.
