BLUT AUS NORD – ethereal horizon – GATEFOLD DOUBLE LP €33.00
“I’ve learned over the years that, when it comes to my own musical creativity, the truth of today is rarely the truth of tomorrow.” Vindsval
The wonderful 16th album from legendary Avant Black Metal paragons BLUT AUS NORD is the culmination of a 30-year vision – as mainman Vindsval connects each element of the band’s history to launch yet another intrepid exploratory evolution.
“Ethereal Horizons” is BLUT AUS NORD fully realised: richer, deeper, grander, more enigmatic and simultaneously more human than ever. Intermeshing the earthen and the futuristic as a vessel for the dark dreamer, soaring and ascending to vivid realms.
After spending the preceding few years immersed in the wyrd and uneasy world of Lovecraft, this guitars-forward and melodious new album feels more akin to the organic, intoxicating terrain of 2014’s “Memoria Vetusta III: Saturnian Poetry” or 2019’s “Hallucinogen” – a cosmic and consonant antidote to our incessant psychic battering from the bleak, cacophonous biosphere in which we reside.
“Ethereal Horizons” incorporates otherworldliness from all eras of BAN – traces of churning dissonance, subtle industrialised elements, the weeping of celestial leads, V’s spectral & subliminal snarl – but brings in a suite of new and more grounded feels too. Far-reaching melodic themes turn inward and outward, frequently resolving into the swing of classic, prog and post rock. The warmth of swirling psych-organ and expanses of kosmische synth provide a bed for emotive themes to build and release into full-throttle ruthlessness. Vocal stylings are wide-ranging as ever, utilising the distinctive cloudbusting cleans and choirs, but this time with a lazer-focus on wistful transcendent melodies, refrains and even out-and-out hooks.
Essential.

BLUT AUS NORD – disharmonium nahab – DIGICD €13.00
“The darkness always teemed with unexplained sound…” (HPL)
“Nahab” – the second part of the Disharmonium cycle – finds BLUT AUS NORD returning, as if by compulsion, to the Weird nightmarish otherworlds of H.P. Lovecraft to reflect them through a new mirror of terrifying Black Metal lunacy.
Descending into abyssal terrain akin to the twin dark chambers of 2022’s first instalment “Disharmonium – Undreamable Abysses” and companion-piece-of-sorts compilation “Lovecraftian Echoes”, this latest emanation is similarly womb-like, detail-rich, disturbed and transformative.
Musically influenced only by the band’s own extensive oeuvre, in comparison with BAN’s recent Lovecraftian explorations “Nahab” has an increased presence of deranged vocal mania, the eerie dynamics are more fully realised, the band’s unmistakeable melodic power amplified, the guitars – lower slung for extra resonance – flow in tandem with splendidly lurching grooves like some Stygian wooze-tsunami.
In the dead-eyed trance of one demonically summoned, BLUT AUS NORD have once again channelled esoteric folklore and modern violence into another phenomenal slice of outsider art which befits their own Mythos and monstrosity. A Crowning Horror indeed.

BLUT AUS NORD – deus salutis meae – DIGICD €13.00
Deus Salutis Meæ (“God of my Salvation”) is the truly mesmeric new emission from BLUT AUS NORD, the great Black Metal innovator renowned for disdain toward convention and a murderous relationship with boundaries.
Using frightening alchemy and predatory cruelty, BLUT AUS NORD fuses each distinct era of its 23 year existence with innovative readings of cavernous, arcane Death Metal, the occult excesses of outsider Industrial and the abject hauntings of psychotropic Doom.
Ouroboros riffing loops in the incessant lurch and roil of renewal; astonishing microtonal harmonies ripple with the void-cadence of analogue synth; demented Hanneman/Belew leads slur in tangled abstraction; heads are remoulded in a percussive vice of beat-driven ecstasies; chanted incantations invoke the serrated mania of holy knives; tortured bodies speak in tongues of tether-end lunacy.
Held rapt, the unmistakable vestige of melodic grandeur lurks within each distressingly addictive phrase. This is a work of singular class from an artist who continues to remain vital.
Deus Salutis Meæ: the crepuscular entombment, the nocturnal ascension, the extraordinary apotheosis?

THRONE – ossarium – TAPE €10.00
“Hell ain’t a bad place to be”, they say. Well, it’s probably because THRONE are not running the place, because if they were, hell would be really… hellish. THRONE are back with their heaviest, strongest and most desperate effort so far and their solid sludge metal morphed into something more sulphureous, more malignant and definitely more feral.
“Ossarium” is a long, painful trip into the territories laden out by EYEHATEGOD, BUZZOVEN and ACID BATH but with an evolved take bordering on black metal sound, as the first single “Aten” clearly demonstrates. In other episodes like “Morrigan”, for which a videoclip will premiere out during the month of January, the band goes back delivering mid-tempo funeral marches for the expected sludge-experience.
Empowered by an astonishing sound quality, perfect for a nightmarish musical experience, “Ossarium” will surely make an impact in early 2025!In stock

HIEROPHANT – gateway to the abyss – TAPE €10.00
Since their previous albums “Mass Grave” and “Death Siege” – both released via Season of Mist – HIEROPHANT paved their way into the extreme metal scene in Europe, with a relentless and furious approach. Following the conquest of the most prestigious stages (Hellfest, MetalDays, Party.San), the Death Siege ranks pushed the limit to the extreme and ultimately crafted the first live album in the band’s career.
“GATEWAY TO THE ABYSS”, whose MC edition is released by Masked Dead Records & Sulphur Music, is the feral representation of what Hierophant is about: Hatred, blood, nihility.

SHORES OF NULL – beyond the shores – TAPE €10.00
Shores Of Null’s third work, “Beyond The Shores (On Death And Dying),” was released in November 2020 via Spikerot Records, continuing to prove the band’s willingness to go off the beaten path and create their ultimate doom manifesto, a 38 minute-long suite emphasizing their heavier, slower and dramatic side, inspired by the five stages of grief formulated by the Swiss-American psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross.
The band has collaborated on the dark opus with many special guests, including two doom-titans, Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow The Sun) and Thomas A.G. Jensen (Saturnus), along with the angelic voice of Elisabetta Marchetti (Inno). The band is able to present an even more diverse and eclectic sound on the album thanks to the addition of classical instruments like piano and violin, along with the return of the talented Marco “Cinghio” Mastrobuono (Hour Of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse) behind the production desk.
